FIND Youth Advisory Commission

FIND Youth Advisory Commission

The FIND Youth Advisory Commission (FYAC) was created by youth, for youth. Young people in the Coachella Valley saw a need for change and took action. FYAC educates the next generation on the realities and stigmas associated with systemic hunger while elevating the skills of youth community leaders.

Commission members are selected based on their willingness to go above and beyond to speak out and serve their community, their passion for youth advocacy, and their school district representation to ensure that student voices from across the Coachella Valley and Hi-Desert region are reflected in the commission.

FYAC is leading the change of tomorrow by discussing solutions and taking action to address issues facing our community today.

Program Outline

FYAC is a year-long program made up of 7 Youth Ambassador seats. Members participate in monthly engagements throughout the program year, including meetings, Youth Saturday volunteering opportunities, and occasional evening/weekend FIND fundraising and special events.

Youth Ambassadors work collaboratively on a youth-led initiative to inform FIND leadership and the organization on youth insecurity in the Coachella Valley, the root causes of hunger, and strategies to combat food insecurity. Their work culminates in a presentation to FIND’s Board and leadership.
