FIND Food Bank’s Network of Food Sites

The very important work of a regional food bank is equitably distributing millions of pounds of food through a network of food sites. FIND Food Bank is the Desert’s Regional Food Bank and its network is comprised of Mobile Market distributions and community-based partners (Agencies) whose organizations have unique programs for those they serve, including homeless shelters, community feeding kitchens, and food pantries. These programs work to move perishable and non-perishable free food items efficiently and effectively to food-insecure families and individuals throughout the desert. At many locations, we also provide additional support services.

Community Markets
Community Mobile Markets

FIND Food Bank’s monthly Community Mobile Market distributions help us reach “Food Deserts”: remote, underserved communities that lack regular access to affordable food. These Community Mobile Markets also help ensure that there is equitable food access to all food insecure people in our service area.

FIND’s Mobile Markets distribute free healthy foods, including fresh fruits and vegetables, to support the creation of healthy meals for individuals and families. Utilizing the USDA My Plate recommended servings for a balanced diet of fresh fruits, vegetables, proteins, dairy and grains, our free Community Mobile Markets offer a variety of choices from each of the categories that allow families and individuals the ability to customize their selections based on their cultural, religious, and dietary needs.

Serving our most vulnerable populations experiencing food insecurity with dignity, respect, understanding, and compassion is FIND’s way of saying we care for all.

Home Bound Delivery Program

FIND Food Bank launched a Home Bound Delivery Program in 2020 in response to the stay-at-home orders mandated by the State of California. Through this program, volunteers utilize their own vehicles to deliver 40-50 pounds of food to families and individuals who are isolated or unable to collect food via the various distribution sites throughout the region. FIND Food Bank is committed to continuing this program beyond the pandemic in order to make sure we best serve our most vulnerable and isolated clients.

Mercado Campesinos

Mercado Campesinos or “Market for Farmers,” is a direct food distributions at farmworkers’ workplaces that provide equitable access to healthy groceries in ‘food deserts.’ Food deserts are communities that lack access to nutritious food options within a close enough distance from their homes. Through California Farmworker Foundation and Growing Coachella Valley, we have established partnerships with eight growing companies to distribute fresh food boxes directly to the farmworkers’ workplaces. FIND has worked with some of these growers for years, rescuing the fresh produce that helps feed the food-insecure populations across the desert region.
