FIND’s President & CEO, Debbie Espinosa, was featured in the winter issue of Desert Charities News, highlighting Women in Philanthropy: Industry Leaders and Influencers in the Nonprofit Industry.
Debbie’s cultural roots of dedication to family, community, and care for those in need are the basis of her passion to work in the nonprofit sector. Building on her immigrant Filipino family’s perseverance, she has carved out a serendipitous 30-year career of service, while actively advancing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Since 2018 she has served as President & CEO of FIND Food Bank, the Desert’s Regional Food Bank.
Committed to youth development and food security systems, she acted as Director of Programs for California’s Contra Costa and Solano area (overseeing a 16-county food bank), the National Feeding America Compliance and Capacity Development Manager for 37 food banks, Special Assistant to the CEO of Fair Trade USA and Branch Executive for the Oakland YMCA, and Strategic Programs and Operations consultant for the Global Food Banking Network and Walmart Mexico y Centro America. There she helped develop the first national food banking networks in Honduras, Nicaragua, and El Salvador.
Debbie currently sits on the Non-Profit Leadership Alliance National Board, the Emergency Food and Shelter Riverside County Board, the EDI National Advisory Cabinet, the National Feeding America Contract Task Force and the National Strategic Framework Planning Council. She also serves on the Feeding America National Advisory Council, being the first person of color in the highest elected U.S. body.
Debbie is a proud mother of two young adult daughters and partner to the son of an Indian immigrant family. She strives to embody the core belief held by her family and shared through her professional dedication: one must care for others before self.
