INDIO, Calif. (KESQ) – Amazon and FIND Regional Food Bank are partnering for their fifth annual summer hunger initiative. Officials with FIND say they see their distribution lines spike by 10% in the hot summer months.
“We have a lot of kids and we have a lot of families that really struggle through the summertime because of the high heat, not a lot of jobs like they are during the season, says Debbie Espinosa, president and CEO of FIND.
Amazon also donated $80,000 to FIND, which will provide up to 300,000 meals to those in need.
“It kind of took a weight off of my back, knowing that I had extra money to do things that I enjoyed to do rather than every cent going to your food and not being able to do things, having to stay in and feel like you’re a prisoner. And this set me free,” says Richard Hoy, a client with FIND.
